Cummins 5.9 QSB 380 HP 2008
The Mercury Smartcraft (often referred to as “Smartcrap”) interface has been removed. This makes versatility for gauges and engine data simpler. You can simply use a J1939 (standard data system), or use a gateway for NMEA 2000. Simrad, Garmin and others make a display with direct J1939 plug. As a Government service engine it was originally 24V, the starter, lift pump and alternator were replaced with 12V to convert it to a 12V system. if you prefer 24V that can be accommodated.
This is a 2008 Government service engine that was previously purchased from a government auction site. Upon receiving the engine and discovering it was a “bad engine” the original user could not make it fit his needs. The engine has been completely rebuilt. The crank was balanced, new pistons, Hasley Machined balanced forged rods. The engine was rebuilt not for more power, but considering balance and smooth operation would create a longer lasting engine.
