Bravo sterndrive SeaCore 5.0L MPI 260 HP Mercruiser engine. The DTS (Digital Throttle & Shift) applications use this engine. This engine also has factory closed cooling and is the Mercruiser SeaCore Model. It is an emissions-controlled (EC) model of engine. The engine was a Certified Pre Owned (CPO) Mercruiser Factory engine. The engine may be turned on and off with ease. The complete one-year manufacturing guarantee is included with the Mercruiser Engine, and Mercruiser offers extra extended warranties for purchase.

Engine Specifications

The MerCruiser 5.0-liter engine is 22 inches tall and weighs 952 pounds. It measures 30 inches in width and 32 inches in length. The V8 engine produces 4,600 to 5,000 revolutions per minute, has a bore of 3.73 inches and a stroke of 3.48 inches, and produces 260 horsepower with a displacement of 305 cubic inches and normal aspiration. The alternator's output is rated at 65 amps.

Fuel and Ignition System

The multi-point, electronic fuel-injection system of the MerCruiser 5.0-liter engine runs on 87 Octane fuel. A high-voltage, crank-fired switch with knock control powers the ignition system. The cooling system uses raw water and is thermostatically controlled. An iron-manifold exhaust system is also a feature of the engine.

Special Features

There is a dry-joint exhaust system on the 5.0-liter MerCruiser. Mercury Marine claims that this improves corrosion resistance and removes the possibility of water seeping into the engine. To keep water out of the fuel system, the fuel filter separates it. Additionally, this engine has a unique alarm system that can alert users to low oil pressure, hot water, or an overheated transmission. For easy access, a drive-lube monitor is mounted on top of the engine.
